San Juan, Puerto Rico - April 1, 2008 - Competitive Alternatives 2008, a KPMG study released globally last week, ranks the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico as the most cost competitive business location in the United States for the software design industry, Boris Jaskille, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO), highlighted today.

According to the study, San Juan's business cost structure for the software design industry scored 74 percent, which is 26 percent lower than the US baseline of 100. The city also ranked first in the overall study when compared to the other mainland cities with a score of 89.1 and appeared in the top 5 in the global ranking.

The report, which measures the combined impact of 27 significant business cost components that are most likely to vary by location, and also compares data on a variety of non-cost competiveness factors, exmines 17 industry operations in 10 countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.

"Puerto Rico offers software development companies the advantage of operating under the U.S. juridiction with the benefits of a competitive cost structure, unrivaled federal incentives, a top notch telecomnunication infrastructure and a world-class pool of human talent. This KPMG report confirmed that we are a top location for the software industry in general and the best near-shoring option for government-related businesses in particular", Jaskille added.
